Summary
Cliff unlocks the window he broke in a back room at the South Seas Club. He climbs inside and enters a service hallway. Noticing a sign to a room marked “LAUNDRY,” he ducks into the laundry room to avoid being noticed by a waiter.
Inside the laundry room, he spots several sacks of soiled linens – – the perfect place to hide the Cirrus X-3. Cliff grabs an empty laundry bag and stuffs his duffel into it.
Moments later, Cliff enters the restaurant area of the South Seas Club, wearing an ill-fitting waiter’s tunic over his flight jacket. The restaurant is packed with patrons as waiters and cocktail waitresses serve the guests. One waiter carves a roast while a cigarette girl plies her trade with the customers. Cliff maneuvers between the employees as he searches for Jenny.
The band plays the final bars of “In a Sentimental Mood,” and the audience applauds. Jenny and Neville have a spotlight aimed at them on the dance floor. Cliff stands still as he sees Jenny – – with Neville Sinclair.
